Review of ozone and greenhouse gas code of practice

A review is currently underway of the Ozone-depleting Substances (ODS) and Synthetic Greenhouse Gases (SGG) Code of Practice.

The Code was prepared by the Fire Protection Association Board to guide all fire system practitioners who handle ODS & SGG extinguishing agents as well as companies who trade in extinguishing agents or who possess halon.

The current code details the responsibilities and procedures that must be complied with to meet the provisions of the regulations. This includes inspection, maintenance, installation and decommissioning practices as well as practices relating to recovery, reclamation and disposal.

The Board is conducting the review to ensure the Code is able to evolve and change to recognise new and better ways to achieve compliance with the legislation. Interested parties have until Friday 30 July 2010 to comment.
