New automotive industry training group to be established

New automotive industry training groupManufacturing Skills Australia (MSA) is establishing a wholly-owned subsidiary to assume responsibility for automotive industry training advisory arrangements.

This change was agreed by a Special General Meeting of the company on 7 May 2010 as recommended by the MSA Board of Directors.

Consultation is now underway with automotive industry stakeholders on the details of the new body, including the structure and composition of its Board of Directors.

It is anticipated that, once the constitutional principles have been finalised, the new body will be established as soon as possible and then take on responsibility for work on the automotive Training Packages of AUR05 Automotive Industry Retail Service and Repair and AUM08 Automotive Manufacturing.

It is planned that both automotive training packages will be moved to the new subsidiary in September/October. MSA will continue to fulfil industry skills council responsibilities for the automotive industry until this time, including workforce development activities such as the Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program and the Upskilling Existing Workers in Sustainability Skills Project.
