Moderation of high risk licensing assessment instruments

Moderation of high risk licensing assessmentsSafe Work Australia has brought forward the moderation process for the mandated high risk work licensing assessment instruments from September 2010.

The moderation process will review and address the comments which have been received on the mandated assessment instruments. Most of these are of a technical nature.

Moderation Issue Registers (MIR) have been established for the following five broad groups:

  • dogging
  • rigging and scaffolding
  • forklifts (both classes), vehicle mounted concrete placement boom, hoists (both classes) and elevating work platform
  • vehicle loading, derrick, portal boom, non-slewing mobile, tower, self-erecting tower cranes, and
  • mobile cranes.

A moderation group has been formed and has commenced the final stages of the moderation process. The moderation group will review each MIR individually to allow sufficient time for review and input.

It was originally intended that the moderation process, which began in January 2010, would be completed by 30 June 2010. However, due to the large amount of comments received, it is unlikely that the full moderation and mandating process will be completed in this time. Safe Work Australia will provide expected timeframes as they become available.
