Skills Tasmania conference - Hobart

The 2010 Skills Tasmania Conference, to be held in Hobart on 21 June 2010, will focus on the importance of workforce development and planning for the Tasmanian economy.

With more Tasmanians leaving the workforce than entering it, the conference will provide timely information to training providers and industry on strategies which can be adopted to ensure an adequate and skilled workforce.

This year's conference will focus on providing industry clients with the necessary tools to take the first steps in workforce planning or, alternatively, to establish contacts with other organisations and individuals who will be able to assist.

A range of free workforce planning tools which have been developed by National Industry Skills Councils will be demonstrated at the Skills Tasmania Conference.

Speakers include Phillip Bullock and Robin Shreeve from Skills Australia, Matt Clement from Fairbrother Group and Wendy Perry from Wendy Perry and Associates.

Robert Wallace, Chief Executive Officer, Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will facilitate an industry-led panel discussion on workforce planning.

National Industry Skills Councils will play a big role in this year's conference with a Workforce Planning presentation to all delegates, followed by individual skills councils' workshops throughout the day.
