VELG QLD VET Symposium
The Voc Ed Learning Group (VELG) is hosting the 2010 QLD Queensland VET Symposium in Brisbane on 15-16 April 2010 for VET practitioners working in Queensland high schools.
Designed especially for practitioners working in VET in Schools, the symposium will explore the key issues and challenges faced when running a registered training organisation within a school environment.
The keynote presenter on the first day will be Geoff Wilson MP, Minister for Education and Training QLD. His address will focus on QLD's current vocational education issues.
Among the other presenters are:
- Carol Hunter - former Director of Training Quality, Training and International Quality Division, in Queensland's Department of Education and Training
- John Price - Director, John Price and Associates specialising in the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) and recognition of prior learning
- Pat Smith - Manager, Public Relations and Information Services, Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre
- Sandra Harrington - an educational consultant specialising in compliance, resources and assessment tools
- David Garner - Manager, Audit Services, Training and International Quality in Queensland's Department of Education and Training.
Among the topics under the spotlight will be the AQTF 2010, VET and the national curriculum, higher level qualifications and VET pathways.
The symposium will comprise keynote presentations, plenary sessions and eight key learning sessions, which are being divided into three distinct VET key learning streams:
- Principals
- VET Coordinators
- VET Teachers.
