Website links out-of-trade apprentices to employers
A new website has been launched that links employers' with skilled labour needs to out-of-trade apprentices looking to return to work and complete their qualifications.
Tradeapprentices.com.au is a joint initiative of the Queensland Government and the Group Training Association of Queensland and the Northern Territory. It is a coordinated, free service for both apprentices and employers.
Out-of-trade apprentices can list their details and job preferences on the website after registering with the Department of Education and Training.
All candidates are pre-screened to ensure they are ready, willing and able to restart their apprenticeship. Employers can search the database according to industry, region or qualification and make a shortlist online. Interviews are arranged with short-listed applicants and the employer.
The successful candidate will recommence their trade directly with the employer or through group training arrangements.
Industry groups could consider linking from their organisation's website to Tradeapprentices.com.au and including the attached information in any newsletters, email updates and other communications to their industry networks.
