Victorian auto-wrecker licensing guidelines

In response to industry queries about auto wreckers and recyclers' licensing requirements, Consumer Affairs Victoria has prepared practical guidelines to assist the industry understanding when licensing is required.

The guidelines provide details on when auto wreckers and recycling businesses need to be licensed under the Motor Car Traders Act 1986 or registered under the Second Hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act 1989. Case studies are used to illustrate the detail provided in the guidelines.

The guidelines also outline the type of sales which are exempt from licensing requirements.
