Skillaroos stampede WorldSkills

Twenty-six of Australia's top young apprentices are about to test themselves against the world's best at the 40th WorldSkills Competition in Calgary, Canada, from 1-7 September.

The WorldSkills International competition bring together the brightest apprentices, from around the world, to display their talents and compete in this prestigious competition.

The Australian team are called the Skillaroos. Each member of the Skillaroos has had to prove their worth by receiving a medal winning place at the WorldSkills Regional and National Competitions.

The team will be defending Australia's current 5th place world ranking reached at the 2007 WorldSkills in Shizuoka, Japan. At that event, Dale McMullen from Western Australia, won gold in the Automobile Technology category.
