Review of liquor industry training in Victoria
![]() |
The Victorian Government will soon be undertaking a review of the training requirements for liquor industry participants including liquor licensees, managers and staff.
At present:
- Those applying for a liquor licence (other than a packaged liquor licence) are required to undertake new entrant and responsible serving of alcohol (RSA) training. New nominees also undertake this training.
- All licensees, staff and management who supply liquor under a packaged liquor licence have to undertake RSA training and refresh their knowledge either annually (for managers) or bi-annually (for staff).
- There is also a condition placed on the licences of late trading venues that they must employ RSA trained staff.
The review of industry training will look at whether this training is adequate across the different licence categories and what additional training may be necessary.
These results will also feed into the Minister's Liquor Control Advisory Council, which is reviewing the legislative aspects of RSA training in Victoria.
