Home sustainability assessor qualifications

The Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC) has received funding from the Commonwealth Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts to develop a qualifications framework for household sustainability assessors.

The objectives for this project are to have qualifications developed for household sustainability assessment that will meet the needs of government, industry and the community by:

  • addressing an area of recognised skills shortages in a growth sector
  • providing nationally recognised vocational qualifications
  • providing career pathways and career development opportunities for household sustainability assessors.

The proposed qualifications framework will be designed to offer:

  • a defined assessment and training pathway for new entrants seeking careers conducting household sustainability assessments
  • the potential for industry personnel to progress to a higher-level qualification (if supported by industry)
  • a measure which government can use to specify levels of competence for people who are involved in delivering services to the public, for example under the Green Loans Program
  • a means by which consumers can have confidence in the advice being provided in the household sustainability assessments being conducted.

Draft versions of the units of competency and qualifications will be posted on the CPSISC website when the consultation period is completed.
