Ceiling insulation training program

To help registered training organisations (RTOs) facilitate delivery of increased training for ceiling insulation installers, the Australian Government has contracted the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC) to develop training support materials.

The Australian Government's $42 billion Nation Building - Economic Stimulus Plan includes the Energy Efficient Homes Package to fund the installation of insulation in up to 2.9 million Australian homes.

This Package runs until 31 December 2011. The industry estimates that more than 4000 people will enter the industry throughout this period. Accordingly, it will be important to have a wide spread of RTOs across the country willing to deliver training in this area to meet the extra demand for trained insulation installers.

CPSISC has developed training support materials covering the following national competency standards:

  • CPCCOHS2001A Apply OHS requirements, policies, and procedures in the construction industry
  • CPCCCM1006A Work Safely at Heights
  • CPCCPB3014A Install batt insulation products
  • partial coverage of CPCCPB3015A Install acoustic and thermal environmental protection systems.

These support materials are available free-of-charge through the CPSISC website.

The training materials will assist to provide a career pathway and a training opportunity for insulation installers.
