Consultation on new units for the Public Sector Training Package

Government Skills Australia is inviting key stakeholders to provide feedback on new units of competency which will be included in the Public Sector Training Package.

Feedback is required on units of competency in:

  • workplace relations (second draft)
  • court services (first draft of 4 new units, 21 second draft existing units)
  • radiation protection and safety (second draft).

Two further units of competency are being developed for the radiation project on measuring radiation and selecting apparatus.

Consideration is also being given to the development of a vocational graduate certificate principally for radiation safety officers. If this goes ahead it would include some of the new units currently being developed, some existing units and a knowledge unit (still to be developed). A final decision has not been made about which training package will host the units of competency as this is a cross industry project.

Comment is also sought on the proposed outlines for a Certificate IV in Government (Workplace Relations) and a Diploma of Government (Workplace Relations).

Government Skills Australia said there may also be sufficient need for a Certificate IV in Human Resources (Government) for local government and the public sector, but further work would not be undertaken on this until 2010.

Comments on all the new units of competency can be provided via the feedback register on the Government Skills Australia website. To access the register visit www.governmentskills.com.au/content/view/687/741/ (login required).
