Noted construction induction support materials available


The Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council has released support materials for the unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry.

The materials available to support training in induction for construction work include:

  • Learner�s Pocket Book Guide

    This is a user-friendly A5 pocket book summarising the learning outcomes within the unit of competency �CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry�. It contains colourful diagrams and pictures, together with simple language to assist Construction workers through the extensive amount of content within the program.


  • Assessment Instrument

    An assessment instrument to support the unit of competency and training program focusing on the key underpinning knowledge requirements.


  • Trainer�s Guide

    Provides an outline of suggested structure for the learning program including detailed learning outcomes, a guide to content and assessment criteria to complement the Assessment Instrument. The guide will also contain a listing of current state-based OHS induction programs within Australian, a listing of regulatory bodies and key contacts.


  • Trainer�s PowerPoint Presentation

    Is a visually friendly presentation that follows the structure outlined in the Trainer�s Guide. Will allow participants to directly match information contained in the pocket book.


  • Recognition Application

    Provides a process and template for participants in the national Construction OHS Induction Training Program to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning against the OHS induction unit.

The support materials developed were funded by DEEWR through the WELL program and were also managed by a national Steering Committee. They have undergone a quality audit process and have been approved by the National Quality Council.

The OHS induction training resources can be used by a range of vocational trainers and assessors to also address the Language, Literacy and Numeracy needs of workers across the construction industry through implementation of the OHS induction training program. They will also provide support to participants in the induction training by catering for a range of learning needs.
