Victoria extends licence assessor authorisations

WorkSafe Victoria has announced that it will be extending licence assessor authorisations by one year in response to the rescheduling of the implementation of the National Standard for Persons Performing High Risk Work in Victoria.

As a result of delays with the approval of the national assessment instruments and units of competency, WorkSafe will extend all current licence assessors authorisations for existing classes until 30 June 2010. The extension will be free of charge.

Under the national standard training and assessment for a licence to perform high risk work is to be conducted by a registered training organisation. The standard was due for implementation on 1 July 2009.

Current assessors can apply to have additional classes included as part of their authorisation. Application will also be accepted from new assessors.

Until the national system is implemented, all training and assessments will continue to be conducted under WorkSafes current system.
