TAA review consultations

Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) is holding national consultation workshops on the review of the TAA04 Training and Assessment Training Package.

A revised model for TAA04 is now under consideration with a consultation paper released for comment.

The consultation paper is based on the outcomes of a paper commissioned by IBSA in April 2008 on the fitness for purpose of the Certificate IV in the TAA04 Training and Assessment Training Package.

The April 2008 paper was required to comment on matters such as:

  • the qualifications suitability for its role as the basic training qualification in the vocational education and training sector
  • the design and content of the core units
  • the balance of the various components of the Package
  • its conformity with a competency standards-based approach.

The paper made a number of criticisms of the qualification along with a series of recommendations as to ways in which it might be improved. The paper also suggested that, from a technical perspective, it would be relatively simple to make the suggested improvements.

The current consultation paper draws on the recommendations of the April 2008 paper and details the proposed model and the detailed arguments to support the model.

There are three ways to participate in the consultation process:

  • submit a written response to IBSA no later than Friday 29 May 2009.
  • participate in an online discussion forum
  • participate in a consultation workshop in your capital city.

Individuals and organisations wishing to submit a response to a paper are encouraged to submit no later than Friday 29 May 2009.
