Review of training package support material noting process
The National Quality Council (NQC) is currently reviewing the Noting Process for national training package support materials.
At its 4 December 2008 meeting the NQC:
- requested that the Noting Process be put on hold pending the outcomes of the review.
- resources which commenced evaluation by a Quality Assurance Consultant prior to 12 December 2008 can be submitted for noting by the NQC as per the existing process.
- no new Noting Process evaluations are to be commenced until further notice.
The review of the Noting Process is being managed by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) for the Council. Stenning and Associates has been appointed to conduct the review during February April 2009.
Training Package support materials are resources to help learners, trainers, assessors and employers implement training and assessment based on the units of competency, assessment guidelines and qualifications from a Training Package. Support materials are not mandated.
The materials may include assessor resources, learner and/or trainer resources, professional development materials, promotional material and Training Package guides designed to inform Registered Training Organisations and employers in the use of Training Packages.
Under the process currently under review any organisation or person who has developed Training Package support materials and owns copyright may have the products evaluated, by an approved Quality Assurance Consultant, against the National Quality Council (NQC) Noted Quality Principles. Products that meet the NQC Noted Quality Principles are noted by the NQC, can carry the noted tick logo and can be listed on the National Training Information Service. Consultant fees for the evaluation are met by the developer.
