Electrical trade skills migration assessment manuals

EE-Oz Training Standards has recently completed the development of manuals and recommended programs to assist registered training organisations (RTOs) with trade skills assessments in selected electrical qualifications under the General Skilled Migration Program.

On 1 July 2007, the Australian Government introduced a new skilled migration pathway for people from the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Philippines and India. Trade skilled migrants from these countries are now assessed overseas by VETASSESS against a selection of Australian qualifications including the following qualifications from the EE-Oz suite of training packages:

  • UEE30807 � Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
  • UEE31307 - Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
  • UET30206 - Certificate III in ESI-Distribution (lineworker)
  • UET30406 - Certificate III in ESI � Cable Jointing

The RTO manuals are designed to assist RTOs to deliver the identified Australian Context Gap Training for each of the above qualifications. Candidate information kits have also been developed to help the candidate to complete the process in Australia so as to facilitate the process to issue the relevant qualification and licence, where applicable.

These products have been developed through the COAG National Licensing Taskforce branch of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. The steering committee to develop the products comprised representatives from:

  • VETASSESS
  • EE-Oz Training Standards
  • Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC)
  • National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA)
  • Communications Electrical Plumbing Union (CEPU)
  • Trades Recognition Australia (TRA)
  • Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
