Young workers safety website launched in WA

WorkSafe Western Australia has launched a new website for young workers focused on workplace health and safety, the potential dangers of the workplace and rights and responsibilities.

The WorkSafe SmartMove website is designed for Years 1012 students to make them more aware of what can happen in the workplace.

The interactive website is based on a module design. Users are able to access general modules which introduce them to important facts about safety laws and common hazards which are then followed by 10 industry specific modules.

Each module includes detailed information along with examples and links to explanatory information. Once completed, the user is able to take an online test on each module. Users who pass the tests will receive a SmartMove certificate to say that they have completed that particular industry health and safety module.

The website also includes information for teachers and trainers on how to effectively use the website and on the VET learning outcomes which can be achieved through the website. The site also provides teachers and trainer with links to further activities and resources.
