New solar competencies proposed for Electrotechnology Training Package
![]() |
A case for endorsement has been submitted to include new units, qualifications and skills sets in the Electrotechnology Training Package which meet the requirements of the Clean Energy Council (CEC) accreditation for the installation of solar systems.
After recent consultation EE-Oz has undertaken work to improve existing endorsed units of competency and qualifications for the design and installation of grid connected solar photovoltaic systems to align with and in some cases exceed the Clean Energy Council accreditation requirements.
Under the current Australian Government solar schemes rebates are only available if CEC accredited installers carry out the work. The case for endorsement for the package includes three post-trade Skill Sets which will allow experienced unrestricted licensed electricians to meet the requirements of CEC accreditation.
The case for endorsement of the revised Electrotechnology Training Package includes:
- a revised qualification - Certificate IV Electrical - Renewable Energy
- revised units of competency:
- UEENEEK024C Assemble and set up photovoltaic apparatus in domestic dwellings/commercial premises
- UEENEEK025C Solve basic problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus
- UEENEEK026C Install and set up grid connected photovoltaic power systems
- UEENEEK035C Design grid connected power supply systems
-
Skill Sets for:
- Installer of grid connected photo-voltaic systems
- Designer of grid connected photo-voltaic systems
- Designer and Installer of grid connected photo-voltaic systems
