New construction training package endorsed

The new Construction, Plumbing and Services Integrated Framework Training Package (CPC08) has been signed off by all state and territory ministers and is now fully endorsed.
The new training package merges and updates the following construction training packages:
- General Construction (BCG03)
- Off-Site Construction (BCF00)
- Plumbing and Services (BCP03).
The three training packages have been combined to reduce overlap and to enable the building and construction industry to better achieve a skilled workforce.
From a licensing perspective the new package includes the following 12 units of competency to meet high-risk working licensing requirements in line with the National Standard for Persons Performing High Risk Work (April 2006):
- CPCCLBM3001A License to operate a concrete placing boom
- CPCCLDG3001A License to perform dogging
- CPCCLHS3001A License to operate a personnel and materials hoist
- CPCCLHS3002A License to operate a materials hoist
- CPCCLRG3001A License to perform rigging basic level
- CPCCLRG3002A License to perform rigging intermediate level
- CPCCLRG4001A License to perform rigging advanced level
- CPCCLSF2001A License to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding basic level
- CPCCLSF3001A License to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding intermediate level
- CPCCLSF4001A License to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding advanced level
- CPCCLTC4001A License to operate a tower crane
- CPCCLTC4002A License to operate a self-erecting tower crane.
The package also includes a unit of competency to meet the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work (ASCC 2007). The unit code is CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry.
Further guidance on the delivery and implementation of these licensing related units of competency, including information on assessment instruments and arrangements with licensing and regulatory authorities, will be forthcoming in the next couple of months.
For immediate guidance on adding the new units to their scope, registered training organisations should contact the relevant section of their local state training authority. In addition, RTOs should also contact their relevant state or territory licensing authority to determine the process and arrangements for recognition of these units for licensing purposes.

All the units of competency in the new training package have been re-formatted to meet the National Training Information Service�s (NTIS) database requirements.
The units have also been re-coded to reflect the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC) integrated framework for titling and version control.
