Ministerial training council communique

The Ministerial Council for Vocational and Technical Education (MCVTE) has released a communiqué outlining the outcomes of the discussions conducted at its 20 November meeting held in Darwin.

The meeting of Education and Training Ministers deliberated on the future of the national training system and the requirements to meet the nation's skills needs.

The communiqué covers a number of topics including:

  • the vocational education and training reform agenda
  • the National Partnership on VET Market Design
  • Skills Australia and the work it has been undertaking
  • the Review of Australian Higher Education
  • barriers to effective educational pathways between universities and training providers
  • re-alignment of the responsibilities of MCVTE
  • the establishment of the National VET Equity Advisory Council
  • the National Quality Council and its 2009 membership
  • the National Industry Skills Committee and its role
  • the increasing importance of green skills and plans to support green skills within the national training system.
