New real estate registration requirements in SA
![]() |
From 21 January 2009 all auctioneers and land sales representatives in South Australia will be required to be registered and carry a photographic registration card.
The requirement is part of new South Australian real estate laws which commenced on 28 July this year. Industry participants are encouraged to apply early to ensure that they are compliant well ahead of the deadline.
The registration will remain valid until January 2010, regardless of how early the application is lodged.
To help the industry and consumers understand their rights and responsibilities under the new laws the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs website has a dedicated real estate section. Agents may be particularly interested in the frequently asked questions, downloadable fact sheets and licensing information available at www.ocba.sa.gov.au/Realestate
For further information contact Office of Consumer and Business Affairs' real estate licensing section on 08 8204 9171 or visit www.ocba.sa.gov.au/Realestate
