Forklift training resource released

A new training resource focuses on safety and risk management issues by exploring the potential hazards and risks in the workplace for forklift drivers.
Forklift Risks and Hazards is made up of a 22 minute DVD and an accompanying CD which includes trainers' notes on how to use this resource and learners' worksheets which can be customised for different organisations.
The DVD covers the following topics:
- the workplan
- checking out the site and the route you will be taking
- pre-operational safety checks
- load and load handling
- driving
- tipping over
- shutdown.
Forklift Risks and Hazards can be used:
- as a training package support material for the unit of competency TLID1007C Operate a forklift
- for refresher training
- for induction and orientation
- as a workplace training tool
- as a support materials for people working towards the National Licence for High Risk Work - Forklifts.
Forklift Risks and Hazards is mapped to TLID1007C Operate a forklift, from the Transport and Logistics Training Package (TLI07). It also covers some aspects of the unit TDTF07C Follow OHS procedures.
