e-learning implementation website upgraded

Understanding the basics of e-learning has just gotten easier after the $30,000 makeover of highly popular website, Designing and implementing e-learning.

Designing and implementing e-learning is an initiative of the national training system's e-learning strategy, Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework) and is an easy to use web-based guide to planning and delivering e-learning courses.

The upgrade includes the addition of new and emerging e-learning strategies and tools including wikis and virtual classrooms.

The site's 'Gallery of strategies' contains click-and-view samples, practical teaching guides and links to key resources for over 50 e-learning strategies. It also provides teachers and trainers with the know-how to explore the detailed sample e-learning course designs, which have been a popular feature of the site.

To help users make the most of the resources, the homepage of the new version features five new tours of e-learning, each with a downloadable pack of field-tested tools, templates and workshop outlines to support professional development and training programs.

Designing and implementing e-learning also has tours on how to get started in e-learning, develop an e-learning initiative and an e-learning plan.

The revamped web-based guide includes a comprehensive new 'Learning materials' section which helps teachers and trainers to find, preview, obtain, customise, develop and distribute the growing range of quality e-learning materials available for vocational education and training.

The 'Learning materials' section includes a user's guide to downloadable learning objects, content management systems, rapid development tools and the extensive online repositories now available, including the Framework's LORN (Learning Object Repository Network).
