Productivity Places Program begins Phase II
The Australian Government has announced the start of Phase II of the Productivity Places Program which will see an extra 22,000 places rolled out for courses from Certificate II to Diploma levels.
Phase II will see the program expanded to provide training for those in the existing workforce, subject to agreed arrangements being finalised with each state and territory.
Nearly 14,000 job seekers have enrolled in the fast-tracked places made available in Phase I of the program, with over 600 people already completed their training.
Currently 439 registered training organisations (RTOs) are participating in Phase 1 of the Jobseeker program, delivering 2013 qualifications.
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations is extending the contracts of these RTOs to deliver training in Phase II of the program and processing new submissions for Certificate IV and Diploma qualifications to commence in July 2008.
