Agri-food skills conference (Melbourne)
The Agri-Food Industry Skills Council will be holding its national conference in Melbourne on 25-26 September 2008.
The conference will focus on the expanded national focus of the Agri-Food Industry Skills Council to identify, understand and address current and future skills and workforce needs for its industry areas which cover:
- Food processing (wine, beverages and pharmaceuticals)
- Rural industries (horticulture, and conservation and land management)
- Meat (processing, retail and smallgoods)
- Seafood (wild fishing and aquaculture)
- Racing (thoroughbred, harness and greyhounds).
The conference will bring together decision-makers from industry, enterprises, peak bodies, registered training organisations, governments, and research bodies.
It will be an opportunity for licensing and regulatory authorities from these industry areas to engage with relevant vocational education and training stakeholders.
Amongst the topics to be discussed will be the implications of the Australian Government's Skilling Australia for the future initiative and its Productivity Places Program. The discussion will centre on how they can best be used to lift workforce participation and productivity across the agri-food industries.
A detailed conference schedule including a list of speakers and topics will be available closer to the conference.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses and organisations to showcase their products and services.
