New OHS laws implemented in ACT
New occupational health and safety legislation came into effect in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) on 26 May 2008.
On 26 November 2007 the ACT Government made changes to legislation under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1989 which has resulted in the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 1991 being replaced by the Occupational Health and Safety (General) Regulation 2007.
WorkCover ACT has released a Guide to the OHS (General) Regulation and a frequently asked questions publication to help ensure workplaces are familiar with the new legislative requirements.
