Changes to the Migration Occupations in Demand List

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has been undertaking a review of the Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL) in order to take into consideration existing and emerging skills shortages.

Following significant changes in the labour market, twelve occupations have been added to the MODL, including:

  • five computing professional specialisations
  • electronics engineer
  • optometrist and dental technician
  • three trade occupations: binder and finisher, landscape gardener and tree surgeon.

One of the occupations previously included in the MODL, Computing Professional (specialising in Sybase SQL Server), has been removed.
