Productivity Places Program to fund 20,000 new skills training places
The Productivity Places Program has been launched by the Australian Government. The program, which is part of the Skilling Australia for the future initiative, will fund 20,000 new skills training places from 1 April 2008.
The 20,000 training places will focus on areas of acute skills shortage in the Australian workforce. Areas of focus include:
- mining and construction
- health and community services
- motor mechanic
- personal and other service industries.
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations is seeking submissions from registered training organisations (RTO) wishing to offer approved qualifications under the program.
RTOs wishing to take part in the program must be able to meet the requirements and submit a Request to Participate. Submissions to offer qualifications to job seekers at Certificate II and Certificate III can be made through the online system until 30 June 2008.
Further information for RTOs wishing to make a submission can be found at www.dest.gov.au/productivityplaces
