Free mine safety legislation seminars in NSW

New legislation has been enacted to protect the health, safety and welfare of people working in the New South Wales metalliferous, extractive and opal mining industries. The Mine Health and Safety Act 2004and Mine Health and Safety Regulation 2007 were proclaimed on 21 December 2007.
The New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (DPI) is hosting a series of free seminars on the mine safety legislation. The seminars will provide an outline of the new legislation, details on new responsibilities for duty holders and timeframes for implementation.
To ensure the seminars are relevant to all areas of the industry, they will be tailored to provide specific content based on the type and scale of mining mostly present in each region. Local New South Wales DPI Inspectors and Mine Safety Officers will also be available at each seminar to provide local content and answer questions.
