Consumer Affairs Victoria develops best practice framework for regulators
Consumer Affairs Victoria has completed two pilot projects to test best practice framework and evaluation tools.
The framework outlines 'good practices' for regulators and provides performance and process indicators. Improving the performance of regulators should provide consistency, help lower the cost of compliance and boost public confidence.
Testing of the framework and evaluation tools was conducted in the motor car traders and fundraising sectors. A number of possible improvements to regulatory schemes were identified during this process.
The best practice framework will be made available to other agencies within the Department of Justice this year.
