Resource kit supports NSW security training
A new resource kit which supports the Asset Security Training Package (PRS03) has been developed by the New South Wales Department of Education and Training under the Industry and Enterprise Skills Program.
The Resource Kit - NSW Security Licence represents one of the first training products to harmonise industry licensing requirements with vocational training qualifications.
It has been approved by the New South Wales Commissioner of Police for use by registered training organisations in the delivery and assessment of Certificate II and III in Security Operations within the following licence classes:
1A - Static and Mobile Patrol Guards
1B - Body Guard
1C - Crowd Control Officer
1E - Monitoring Centre Operative
1F - Armed Guide (Cash/Non Cash in Transit)
1G - Loss prevention officer.
All units of competency required to attain the licenses are covered in the support materials which contains a learner guide, training and assessor guide and recognition of prior learning kit.
The units are separated into clusters that can be delivered and assessed holistically. Each cluster provides guidelines on resource requirements and content to be covered in the training delivery, and samples that can be used to assist in the judgement of competence or as practice activities for candidates.
Additional resources to meet the requirements for the Certificate III in Security Operations 1D Dog Handling licence class will be available from the New South Wales Department of Education and Training in March 2008.
