NTC reviews pilot and escort vehicle driver accreditation procedures

The National Transport Commission is currently surveying both government and non-government workers as part of its review of the Administrative Guideline: Pilot and Escort Vehicle Driver Accreditation Procedures - October 2004.

The guideline serves as a national model for state and territory road and transport agencies to implement their own accreditation procedures and requirements for pilot and escort drivers.

As part of its monitoring role, the commission conducts periodic reviews of reforms by inviting feedback from organisations and individuals who are aware of, and have been affected by the guideline. Their responses are then included in a draft report which assesses the relevance and effectiveness of the guideline against its originally agreed objectives.

Completed questionnaires for the current review must be submitted by Friday 2 November 2007. The ensuing draft report will be circulated to transport agencies for comment, then submitted to transport agency chief executives and the Australian Transport Council for approval, before being published on the commission's website.
