Employment agents warned of imminent investigation in ACT

The ACT Attorney General has commissioned the Office of Regulatory Services to investigate recent allegations that a number of ACT businesses who provide employment agent services are not licensed as required by the Agent's Act 2003.

Employment agents in the ACT must be licensed to trade lawfully. The licensing regime for employment agents ensures they practice appropriately and that only people of good character undertake these roles.

Unlicensed trade will attract a fine and an order to cease trade until a license has been obtained. Prison sentences may also be imposed.
