Action plan to provide workplace support for Qld apprentices

The Train to retain Action Planthe Queensland Government's latest strategy to address the skills shortage, was launched by the Hon. Rod Welford MP, Minister for Education and Training and Minister for the Arts on 13 June.

The Train to retain Action Plan aims to ensure apprentices and trainees complete their full trade qualifications to become valued members of Queensland's skilled workforce.

The plan is a response to the Training Ombudsman's report into improving workplace practices for apprentices and trainees, which was undertaken as part of the $1 billion Queensland Skills Plan.

It outlines a range of strategies to improve apprentice retention, including an education program to help build supportive workplaces and improved reporting systems.
