Minimum training gap project for overseas assessments
EE-Oz Training Standards has been commissioned by the Australian Department of Education, Science and Training to identify the minimum Australian context training gap requirements that would apply to overseas workers assessed as technically equivalent by registered training organisations overseas.
This will enable registered training organisations to issue an Australian training package qualification in five specified electrotechnical qualifications: electrical fitter, electrician, refrigeration and air conditioning, electrical lineworker and electrical cable jointer.
The training needed to meet the minimum gap is typically comprised of a combination of essential knowledge and associated skills, workplace practice, and practice in verifying the requirements for safety and compliance elements of the specified work.
From the work soon to be completed, registered training organisations who conduct overseas assessments will be able to access formal information about the requisite minimum Australian context gap that applies to various occupations.
