Australian chemical regulator introduces online applications
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority has recently released an Electronic Application and Registration System (EARS) for agricultural and veterinary chemicals.
EARS streamlines the chemical registration process by facilitating the online submission and monitoring of applications to the Authority.
Developed by Authority staff, EARS makes it simpler for its clients to provide the detailed information the Authority needs to assess the efficacy and safety of chemical products.
It offers an easily understood intelligent system to compile and validate the data entered, ensuring as correct and complete an application as possible. Final submission is through a secure encrypted internet connection. Payments can be made online and applicants can check the status of pending applications.
This system, which is more efficient for both parties, is innovative at the international level because the Authority is the first AgVet regulator to launch such an application.
