Coastal trading goes online
The Australian Department of Transport and Regional Services has developed an online system to automate the current paper-based coastal trading licence and permit application process.
The new system, Coastal Trading Online, will streamline the application process and reduce the time it takes to submit a permit application. The automated process will also allow applicants to check the progress of their application online.
Coastal Trading Online is a change only to administrative process and does not involve any change to the existing coastal trading regulatory system. Coastal Trading Online will continue to be governed by existing coastal trading regulations, including processing timeframes and Australian Licensed Operator checks.
The department will work with industry to implement Coastal Trading Online by June 2007.
