Licensing and registration reform gets a tick
The Review of the National Heavy Vehicle Registration Scheme and the National Driver Licensing Scheme, released by the National Transport Commission, reveals that reforms to implement national schemes for heavy vehicle registration and driver licensing has been successful.
The reforms streamlined national registration and licensing systems for the first time. National Transport Commission Chief Executive Nick Dimopoulos said that the review showed that national reform through co-operative federalism can work effectively.
A number of unresolved issues were identified by the review, particularly for vehicle registration. The National Transport Commission will follow up these issues and report on how they will be addressed.
