Licensing line national project - Update
Firstly, welcome back - I hope you had a relaxing break and are feeling refreshed to take on 2004.
This is the first edition for 2004 and the project secretariat will continue its role in keeping you informed on licensing issues and general vocational education and training stories.
The project secretariat is already in full swing for 2004. We are finalising outstanding project deliverables and continuing to work on transitioning the delivery of licence classes - for loadshifting and other types of equipment identified in the standards NOHSC:7019 and NOHSC:1006 - to the vocational education and training sector.
Consultations on draft report Road to transition - Improved pathways for operator certification
The consultation forums conducted in late November/early December 2003 was very well received by those who attended or requested copies of the information kits.
In total, 280 people attended the sessions and a further 218 people received the information kits presented at the forums. In addition over 1000 organisations were approached for input.
The feedback received from stakeholders has assisted in finalising the report for presentation to the transition working group for their consideration.
The transition working group is currently finalising key recommendations to inform the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission and the Australian National Training Authority.
A progress report will be included in the next edition of this newsletter.
