Licensing line national project - Update

The Licensing line national project team has been working with stakeholders to finalise a number of activities to support the resolution of licensing issues within the development, review and implementation of training packages. Progress to date includes:

Consultations on draft report Road to transition - Improved pathways for operator certification

As advised in the last edition of the newsletter the consultation paper Road to transition - Improved pathways for operator certification was released for public comment.

This paper relates to a proposal to link the training system with the occupational health and safety certification system. In order to orientate stakeholders to the consultation paper forums were conducted across Australia. Formal written feedback from stakeholders will be critical to enable the report to be finalised.

An update on the feedback received will be provided in the February edition of the newsletter.

Best Practice examples guide

A guide identifying examples where licensing issues have been successfully addressed is nearing completion.

Guide to assist training package developers to address licensing requirements

A guide to assist training package developers and other stakeholders to improve the way licensing issues are addressed within the development, review and implementation of the training packages is being developed.

Licensing line news hits 4000 subscribers

Licensing line news recently reached the 4000 - subscriber mark and is still growing.

This is a major achievement given the short time the publication has existed. If you know of anyone who might like to subscribe - spread the word. The newsletter can be accessed on the Internet at www.training.qld.gov.au/trainingpackages/licenceissue.htm#2  or a hard copy can be posted.

This month's edition is larger than normal to keep you informed over the December/January period.

Best wishes from the editor

Thank you to everybody who contributed a story or story leads throughout the year.

I look forward to continuing keeping you informed on licensing and general vocational education and training issues next year.

Have a safe and happy Christmas and I hope next year is a prosperous one - hopefully it won't go as fast as what 2003 seemed to go.
